LIHEAP is federally funded and typically provides up to $500 worth of energy credits and payment assistance to families.
The program provides states with funding for programs associated with household energy bills, energy crises, weathering, and energy-related minor home repairs.
In addition, the money does not have to be paid back because it is a grant.
However, since the program is left to the federal states, not every program helps to cool down in the summer months.
Fall is here, which means cooler weather is just around the corner! If you need energy assistance, registration for the Low-Income Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) is open now and runs through November 11th.
